Matt was amazing to work with. My husband and I are both very busy but we were able to do consultations by skype, which was super convenient. We also wanted to make sure that our music selections would really reflect who we are. My husband likes punk rock and we both like bluegrass, but I wasn't exactly sure how these two genres would sound together. Not only that, but we also had some must play songs by Luther Vandross, Two Live Crew, and Cake that we couldn't live with out. Matt made it work. Not only was I excited every time a new song came on, but my guests were even commenting about the music days after the wedding. It was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing.

We organized this wedding in just 2 weeks and the DJ was the last thing we thought of. Matt from Sound in Motion was a doll to work with - he emailed me quickly and offered suggestions when we didn't have any ideas. The guests at the reception commented as well - he was low key, very willing to play requests and kept the group moving. He was flexible enough to adjust the schedule when things started lagging and overall, we couldn't have been more pleased.

Matthew Cope provided DJ services for our Holiday party over the past 3 or 4 years; he's extremely professional, always on time and is very flexible when it comes to mussic choices. What I like mostly is his ability to help as the master of ceremoney and does it sleamlessly.

From the very first phone conversation I was impressed with Sound in Motion. Professional, responsive, thoughtful, helpful, patient, courteous. We met with Kaveh (our DJ) on two occasions prior to our wedding, and communicated several times more via e-mail and phone to finalize details. The music was perfect. Kaveh put together music for our pre-ceremony cocktail party, the ceremony, dinner, and then dancing. One of the things that impressed us the most was how seamless he made it, especially for the ceremony. With our (limited) guidance, he put together music to set the mood as guests transitioned from the cocktail hour to the ceremony, then wove together the two requested songs for our processional and the songs for the recessional. Like I said, Perfect. He also astutely read our guests and the mood of the evening, from background music while guests ate and visited to the right blend of dance music. Kaveh is such a pro. He made suggestions for things we never would have thought of. He/they worked well with our other vendors. Also impressed with the company's efforts to check out the venue before the event to ensure proper and efficient set up (they also provided mics for the outdoor ceremony and for the toasts). If I could give them six stars above, I would. I highly recommend Sound in Motion and Kaveh.

Henry was our DJ for our wedding and he was wonderful. I was very particular about the versions of the songs and the part of the songs I wanted to use for the ceremony and the dances and he got them all right! He was willing to meet with us and discuss the day a few times so I was comfortable to let go of my controlling ways. By the time the wedding came I knew we were in good hands and it was nice to not have to worry about it during the wedding.

Adrian was the perfect DJ/MC for our wedding, he is friendly and has that 'announcer' voice that would be good for movie previews :-) They provided a projector and had live photos projected on to a screen it really gave the event space a great feel. I would highly recommend sound in motion for all your sound needs.

Adrian Cavlan brought our wedding to life!! Three weeks post-wedding, our guests are still commenting on how amazing he was. Meetings leading up to the wedding were both comfortable and productive - he, and Sound in Motion, create an ideal balance of professionalism and passion for what they do. Adrian took time to discover our music preferences and executed perfectly on wedding day - he truly provided the motion of the evening, and left our guests calling for hours more! Another important aspect was the correct pronunciation of names. Some of ours were fairly unique and he took time to learn them and announce them proudly and flawlessly on our big day. We couldn't have been happier with the entire experience of working with Adrian and Sound in Motion and recommend them with absolute confidence to anyone looking to throw a wedding, anniversary, holiday party, or any other celebration. I cannot say enough in praise of DJ Adrian Cavlan with Sound In Motion. I began interviewing DJs for my daughter's September 2011 wedding about 8 months out. I was planning my daughter's wedding from long-distance, and I found SIM from the referral list from the Venue where the wedding and reception was being held.. I am so glad that this was the case, as I feel this gave me a HUGE advantage. Initially, I looked around on their website, and if first impressions mean anything, I was impressed!! Still, anyone these days can pay someone to design their website, so i planned on reserving final opinion for when I called on the phone to ask some questions. Immediately, Adrian and I connected. He was a few hundred dollars more than some of the other DJs who work for SIM, but I felt so comfortable after speaking with him, that I didnt want to trivialize that by going straight for the least expensive DJ. Sometimes you get exactly what you pay for!!. I should also point out that Adrian offered a bit of a discount for a Friday wedding, so that made it easier not to cut straight to the cheapest and ask myself how well I could do for the price. Anyway,. I was never made to feel like I was being pressured into deciding on the most expensive things, or like I was being sold more than I really needed, and I appreciated that! A few weeks before the wedding, my daughter, my SIL and myself met with Adrian to go over all the details. I was impressed with the attention to detail that Adrian took in pinning down all the details of the reception, and the bridal party. My daughter had no idea there were so many things to coordinate( as this is her first wedding), and she was very impressed, as was I, at how Adrian pulled all these pieces together. Adrian did a fantastic job at getting to know the couple and suggesting music that would for their personality for their cocktail hour and beyond. we wanted to represent various types of music, but the trick was doing this seamlessly and tastefully. In addition to this, Adrian did a great job at suggesting ways to get thru the etiquette issues of a modern family wedding, and this was very appreciated, as no one wants to feel awkward. My daughter had her heart set on a song by a local santa cruz artist and friend--Chris Renee of recent XFactor fame-- for their first dance, but it was much faster of a tempo for a typical first dance song. I had no idea this was even possible, but Adrian fixed the tempo and slowed it down considerably. Suddenly, it was a perfect tempo and my daughter and her fiance were thrilled!! The wedding itself was awesome. I had a stings trio arranged to play the ceremony music for their outdoor ceremony, but Adrian provided all the PA for the ceremony as well, which was a huge relief since I knew that entrusting this detail to him was something I could feel good about.. one fewer thing for me to coordinate!!. I was very impressed with Adrian's skill at MC'ing the ceremony, it was obvious that he has a great deal of experience with this. But additionally, it takes a special person to develop a tasteful rapport with a particular crowd, and i felt like Adrian accomplished this beautifully! I very much appreciated that Adrian came to me and asked me before he promised he would play a request of a guest, since he wanted to make sure that I considered it appropriate. We hadnt planned on having a money dance, but a guest asked him about it, and before playing a song and announcing this, Adrian came to me and asked me about this too. I am glad that i wasnt caught off guard with these issues, ass Adrian had it covered. It is my opinion that nothing else sets the tone for a wedding (other than the venue itself)--the DJ services has the power to make or break the event, and I am glad that I trusted our day to Adrian. I only regret that I hadnt made the videography services that they offer a priority. It was a perfect day!! I received sooo many compliments about the music and the MC services and I will continue to HIGHLY recommend SIM to anyone who has the highest expectations for their event! Sound In Motion is hands down the best DJ Service in the Santa Cruz area. I had the pleasure of having Adrian Cavlan (co-owner) be my DJ (and master of ceremonies). He will do as much or as little as you want. He is truly a class act and knows his stuff! A DJ can make or break a party and it was really important for me to have someone who could relate to "all" my guests (old, young, and the fun). His online website was easy to use (to organize your thoughts, music ideas, dedications, etc...) and he was very responsive to all my emails, questions, & last minute changes. He also provided me with "mood" lighting which helped create great ambiance and back lighting. He was able to mic my officiant. Really....you cannot go wrong with Sound In Motion!! Worth every penny! In fact, I wish I could get married again and dance all night long!

Adrian was phenomenal. He served as DJ and MC for our wedding and reception and went above and beyond our expectations. Our guests were impressed with his easy but festive demeanor and ability to ‘read the crowd’ and select the best choices of music. The entire Sound in Motion staff was prompt, professional, and easily accessible. We highly recommend them to others.

Andrew Rivas was our DJ from Sound in Motion and he did an amazing job! He really read the crowd very well, and played music that everyone wanted to dance to. He kept things fun the entire night, and kept the reception flowing nicely! Since I was planning my wedding from across the country, he was very accommodating, and always welcomed my many questions :) Very professional service, and I would highly recommend this company to all brides! (Request Andrew Rivas as your DJ and you won't be disappointed) ;)

We had our wedding this past August and we are so happy that we chose Sound In Motion to provide us with our music and videography service. They are such a great company and work with you every step of the way to make sure you have the perfect music at your wedding. They provide you with an online account and you are able to log in as much as you want until a few days before your wedding to pick music for every part of your ceremony and reception. This definitely helped especially when you are finalizing all details the week of the wedding. :) Our DJ was Raffi Nalvarian and he is the BEST!!! He has such a great personality and we felt like we had known him forever. He was just a blast to be around and really made our wedding so lively and fun! He totally fit right in with our family and friends. :) He was able to read the crowd and see what type of song to play next. And his commentary in between songs was entertaining. :) But the best part was our entrance into the reception as Mr. and Mrs. We are HUGE San Jose Sharks fans so Raffi suggested we come in to the song "Seek & Destroy by Metallica, which is the same song the Sharks enter the arena to. Then Raffi through in the Sharks goal horn and the goal chant! :) It was AWESOME!!!!! :) Definitely got our guests pumped! :) It is very clear that Raffi enjoys what he does and that he is so good at it! :) He made sure everyone was having a great time and he made me feel so at ease the whole night. I never once had to worry about the music. Everything went off without a hitch! :) And Giovanni and his crew did a great job videotaping our wedding. We have not yet seen the video. We can't wait to see it! I am sure it will be amazing. They made sure to capture every moment from our special day! :) We would most definitely recommend Sound In Motion for your music and videography needs. They have amazing customer service and want to make sure the music for your wedding is everything you imagined it to be. You won't feel stressed at all and will enjoy working with them for sure, especially Raffi! :)

Matthew was amazing! After meeting with him once, he knew our music preferences exactly. He was so easy to work with and very professional. He even burned us a CD with our reception music to listen to on our honeymoon. Sound in Motion was the one vendor that we didn't have any issues with at all. We booked them after several recommendations from friends and have since recommended them to many others.

DJ Matthew saved the day!! I had a last minute cancellation for our DJ, who was actually a friend doing a favor so I was referred to Sound In Motion. When I described my situation, they instantly connected us with Matthew Cope, one of their best DJs. I'm so thankful he was the one to DJ and MC our wedding. I didn't realize how important choosing the DJ was, but this person is crucial to the success of your event. When we met, instantly we knew we were in good hands. Matthew gave us guidance and tips for how to plan the reception. He had experience working at our venue (The Mountain Terrace) and some of the logistical complexities. Meeting with him really helped bring everything together so we could visualize how the night would go. Matthew worked great with all our other vendors too and really took it upon himself to communicate our schedule to everyone else, this made things flow incredibly smoothly from one thing to the next. There was never a dull moment at our reception, he made sure I was worry free and a very happy bride - ladies this is so important! Make sure you have a good team that helps you with all the prep on the front end so that all you have to worry about on your day is getting married and celebrating like crazy! :) Highly recommend Sound In Motion and DJ Matthew Cope.

On of the most amazing aspect of our wedding was our DJ. He created such a beautiful music list and captured the exact vibe we wanted! He went over and beyond and we HIGHLY recommend him!!! You will not be disappointed with his services.
